The Problem

AgDealer has been one of North America's largest equipment marketplaces for over 25 years. People have been coming to the site and it's print companions and buying equipment when they need it. When I joined the team in September of 2024, they were looking to embark on a project that would bring new audiences to the site, ones that wanted to research equipment models. We had a problem though, a lot of the information we got from the various manufactures were in all kinds of formats. We needed to get these diverse bits of data into a structured form we could rely on.

The Solution

I had joined Glacier FarmMedia right as this initiative was kicking off, and I really wanted to get the team excited about the product while also testing some new colors to address some accessibility issues. I quickly put together a sub brand of AgDealer, which resonated immediately with the team and helped us approach the project with intensity.

This app interacts with our ElasticSearch instance to pull models from the AgDealer platform and allows you to augment the data by running documents and user generated descriptions through both OpenAI and Anthropic's LLMs to compile equipment model data into a structured format — a format that would serve as a data profile in a new research section of the site.
