Designing a new equipment research section for AgDealer

Designing a new section of the site to engage a new user group — those at the start of their equipment purchasing journey, where they're researching equipment. This section also saw me test a new header design and an overall brand refresh.

Equipment Research

With our internal tool taking shape, I turned my focus to defining the section of the site that would consume this newly structured data. We had strong signals that manufacturers were eager to promote new models, so I saw an opportunity to elevate the presentation—giving it the feel of a high-end automotive magazine. This approach wouldn’t just enhance user engagement; it would also introduce a new native ad unit, creating an additional revenue stream by allowing manufacturers to showcase their models in a premium, high-visibility format.

Building on this concept, I saw an opportunity to extend these enhancements to our print edition—the original foundation of AgDealer. To add more value for our subscribers, we integrated content from Glacier FarmMedia’s extensive network, incorporating news and commodity market insights directly into AgDealer’s print and digital editions. This allowed us to create a richer, more informative experience while simultaneously offering manufacturers new ways to engage with their audience.

Leaning into the idea of "Car and Driver™-ification" (a term I shamefully admit to coining), I designed a multi-page spread that seamlessly combined structured data, editorial insights, and layered ad placements—including localized dealer promotions. This format not only gave manufacturers a compelling way to highlight their latest models but also reinforced AgDealer’s position as the go-to resource for agricultural equipment buyers. By blending data-driven storytelling with an editorialized aesthetic, we transformed the print and digital experience into something more dynamic, engaging, and revenue-generating.
